Setting up a smores station can be tricky to do last minute. Usually it’s dark outside and there’s a hoard of impatient kids waving sharp sticks begging for marshmallows. It can quickly turn into a free-for-all, chaotic mess!
I’ve made this mistake – and hope this post helps you avoid making it too! By planning your smores station ahead of time, you can enjoy more time around the bonfire – and bypass the stress of frantically tossing chocolate bars and graham crackers at rowdy children!
I love an outdoorsy campy look for a bonfire, but with a modern twist. Same goes for a smores station, which is what I want to share with you today.

This post is all about how to set up a stylish smores station.
Campy Smores Station Tablecloth
When setting up a smores station, the first thing you need to do is identify the space, which is done simply with a tablecloth. However, it doesn’t have to be a traditional tablecloth. You can use a blanket – like this campy one. I love the texture and neutral tones.
I spread out the camp blanket diagonally on our picnic table so the fringe would hang down on both of the longer table sides. It did the job anchoring the entire look.
Mini Cookie Sheet as Smores Station Plates
Next, I’m letting you in on my favorite smores station secret: Create individual trays with the marshmallows, chocolate squares, and graham crackers portioned for a certain number of s’mores. (This is a great way to set limits on kids – and it keeps things more hygienic by not having everyone grab from the same bag- gross!)
To create a camp-inspired look, use mini cookie sheets as plates. They are seriously darling! Line each with sandwich wrappers (the same ones I used in this post on how to create a boho party), add a mug of marshmallows, and artfully display the rest of the ingredients. Super easy!
Lantern Lighting on Your Smores Bar
Chances are, you’re hosting a bonfire in the dark. Light the way for your guests by adding a light source to the smores station. I love this throw-back lantern. Placed on a spare piece of firewood, it creates a simple centerpiece too!
Hand Sanitizer
Keep your s’mores station a little more hygienic by having a bottle of hand sanitizer handy. As a self-professed germaphobe, I have tried tons of different brands on the market and am a big fan of the Barr Co. Their packaging is thoughtfully designed and scents are incredible! I like that the bottles blend seamlessly into my decor.
After everyone has been outdoors, it’s probably a good idea to wash your hands anyway – but that’s not always convenient. Having an easy-to-use bottle of sanitizer at your smores station should check the cleanliness box!
Roasting Sticks
Create a specific place for roasting sticks on your smores station. I like that this keeps them off the ground. Additionally, if you use a firewood log as I did, the sticky residue won’t get on your tablecloth!
