Kitchen Coffee Station Ideas
We live in a 1930s home, and the kitchen is the small footprint it was when the house was built 90 years ago. To make a space dedicated to coffee (and dry goods storage), we improvised and created a pantry out of a closet in our mudroom, which is adjacent to the kitchen. The closet pantry has built-in shelves and a wood counter where we keep our coffee maker and accouterment. This freed up a ton of counter space in our kitchen, which was a must. Plus, it created a cozy nook just for coffee, which makes our daily ritual a little more special.
Our coffee maker is a traditional drip. We have several coffee drinkers in our home, and we’ve found this is the most economical option for us. Not only that, but I enjoy having a pot of coffee when we entertain so we can make many cups at one time. This is the exact coffee machine we have, and I cannot recommend it enough. We’ve had it for at least 5 years, and it makes a seriously good dark roast. (This is our favorite coffee blend, in case you’re interested.)
To update the space for spring, I wanted to refresh the artwork, add a plant, and rework the decor to include sweetener and creamer options for guests. My husband and I drink coffee black. However, when we’re hosting we want to make sure we have creamer and sweetener on hand for guests who prefer that.
Tray
The first thing I recommend getting for any kitchen coffee station is a tray. Bonus points for a tray on a riser. There is something about a little added height that makes the decorations on it that much better. I love this marble tray from Target and have used it SO many times (like in this post).
The marble and gold works well for my space because the counter is wood so it creates a nice contrast. However, if you have stone counter tops, I recommend doing the opposite and getting a wood tray for your coffee bar. Here is a cute one I found in case you need a shopping starting point.
Plant
I love a good faux plant, especially since I’m notorious for not being able to keep real plants alive. Haha. For spring, I wanted a pretty, neutral bloom and decided on this baby’s breath arrangement. It comes in a vase, so that takes some of the guess work out. I had to fan out the stems a bit to give them a more natural look, but over all am impressed with the quality for the price.
Creamer & Sweetener Dispenser
To display individual half-and-half creamers, I turned them upside down (so the packaging isn’t visible) and put them in a darling scalloped dish. I like that we can have a few creamers out and replenish as needed. If we were hosting a lot of people, this dish wouldn’t work. In that case, I’d opt for something larger that holds more creamers. However, for a small get-together, it holds the perfect amount.
Then, for a sweetener, I filled a glass dispenser with vanilla coffee syrup. This dispenser comes in a pack of two with lots of sticker options so you can customize based on the syrup you like to have on your kitchen coffee station. Additionally, it comes with a little funnel, which makes pouring the syrup much neater. I love the aesthetic touch it brings to the space, especially the pretty shape of the gold pump.
Coffee Spoons
Instead of stir sticks, these gold spoons placed in the sweetest bunny mug are just the functional decor the space needed. I don’t buy a ton of specific holiday decor and am really picky about what I do choose. However, I am obsessed with this bunny mug and so happy I purchased it.
The spoons I have had for a long time. (I used them on this mediterranean grazing table years ago.) The exact set I bought is no longer in stock, but I found a nearly identical option also from Amazon. Their petite size is just right for stirring coffee, and the leaf shape on the handle makes them feel artisanal and unique.
Art
Last but not least, art. To get this layered look, I purchased a framed wildflower oil painting. The flowers definitely give spring, but I like that the palette is subtle. It’s available in a few sizes, and I bought the 8×10. Rather than hanging it, it’s leaning against the backsplash.
Then, overlapping the painting, I placed a framed “coffee” print that I designed. (You can get this free printable when you sign up for my newsletter!) To add a touch of earthy material to the coffee station, I used this lovely caning frame for the print. The construction of the frame is so good. I am really glad it’s now in my home decor collection and can see using it in other spaces too throughout the year.
