How to Make An Aperol Spritz
Aperol Spritz Ingredients
To make an Aperol spritz, you only need a few simple ingredients:
- Ice
- 3 oz Prosecco
- 2 oz Aperol
- 1 oz club soda
- Orange slice
In order to avoid ending up with a spritz that’s too sweet, choose a Prosecco that is on the dry side. Look for the word “brut” on the bottle. The Prosecco I tend to buy most often in general is this mid-range option.
Everyone has a different tolerance for what seems affordable (or not). To me, this bottle price point (around $14) actually stretches pretty far with this recipe. Since you’re only using about 3 oz per beverage, you can serve many glasses per bottle of bubbly!
Next, you need a bottle of Aperol. One will likely last you a while, since you’re using a small amount per spritz. You might wonder what aperol tastes like? Admittedly, I don’t have the most refined palette, but to me it taste like extra tangy citrus.
Lastly, you need club soda (or a non-flavored sparkling water). Hint: If you’re only making a few glasses of the recipe, then buy the mini bottles of club soda. A large bottle may fall flat before the next time you use it. Using mini bottles gives you fresh, crisp club soda for your next aperol spritz party!
Garnish
Orange slices or wedges are a classic garnish for aperol spritz. Since I’m no where near a mixologist, I stuck with the go-to garnish. However, instead of large naval oranges, I used small sliced clementines. Using clementines was a better fit for the stemware I chose, because the straight up-and-down shape is more narrow than a traditional rounded wine glass.
Glassware
Speaking of stemware, I have to take a moment to gush about these gorgeously modern wine glasses. They are a recent Amazon purchase. Getting wine glasses in this shape has been on my list of some time. In my opinion, the angular lines brings a clean, of-the-moment vibe to the Aperol spritz aesthetic. Highly recommend you check these out if you’re on the market for fresh stemware for your summer spritzers!
Recipe
Busy hostesses like you will appreciate that the recipe not only calls for simple ingredients, but is also FAST to make. If you’re serving a few people, you can easily assembly line production.
One: Start with wine glasses filled with ice
Two: Pour 3 oz Prosecco to each glass
Three: Add 2 oz Aperol to each glass
Four: Top with 1 oz club soda in each glass
Five: Garnish with orange slice or wedge
