If you have a friend or family member spending the night, these guest welcome basket ideas will help you assemble a useful and pretty collection of things to make their stay extra special. We recently hosted my mom for the weekend, and this is the basket I made for her. Using a neutral color palette, I filled the basket with necessities as well as with a few little luxuries. While it was made during the holidays, because the contents are neutral they could work any time of the year no matter when you’re hosting an overnight guest.
In this post, I’ll share more details on how I arranged this basket as well as links to shop the finds. Additionally, I will include bonus tips on other ways to make your guest room feel like a cozy home-way-from-home for your guests.

Guest Welcome Basket Ideas

To make an amenity basket for your guest room, you have to first start with a basket or container – obviously! lol I found this adorable bow basket at Target and loved the size – not too big, not too small. Just right to hold everything I planned to include it in – without having to add a lot of extra filler.
Then, I added the biggest items to the back of the basket, which included rolled up bath and hand towels and a pair of slippers. The towels I used are thin waffle material, so that helped them to not take up too much space.
Next, I layered in the medium-sized items – a new loofa and a bottle of linen spray. Is the linen spray necessary? No – but I think it was a nice touch and plus the bottle is really cute – the perfect centerpiece for the guest basket.
Lastly, I added in the small items to the front of the basket and arranged them so there was visual balance. On the left side, I placed travel size bottles of shampoo and conditioner. On the right side, two granola bars (while I hope people who stay at my house know they can get whatever they’d like from the kitchen, sometimes it’s nice to have a little stash of snacks in your room). Then, in the middle, a small bottle of body wash.
When shopping for all of these things, I looked for packaging that was neutral so it would coordinate as a collection.
