This post is all about eucalyptus centerpiece diy.
1. Start with a Neutral Table Runner
To get this look, start with a neutral table runner. I really like this macrame option from Amazon. It comes in two different lengths, including this longer one which is perfect for our 100″+ table.
You can opt to layer the table runner over a tablecloth as I did. Or if you have a pretty wood table, save yourself some ironing and skip the tablecloth!
By the way, this flax linen tablecloth is one of my favorites. It’s made quite a few appearances on blog posts, including this confirmation dinner table (which also happens to have a eucalyptus centerpiece!).
2. Create a Eucalyptus Garland
Where do I get my fresh eucalyptus? Glad you asked! My go-to place is Trader Joe’s. At my local store, they’re $4 a bunch. For added dimension, I usually get two different eucalyptus varieties and am particularly fond of this combo – live seeded and baby blue.
To create a diy eucalyptus garland, begin at the end where you want the garland to stop. Lay the eucalyptus down one at a time covering just the stem of the last one so there’s a slight overlap. Continue in this fashion until you get to your center point. At the center-point, flip the direction of where the steps are pointing and continue layering one piece at a time until you get to the opposite end from where you began.
You may need to make adjustments. Don’t worry! I never get it right on the first try either. It’s very easy to make changes.
One common mistake I make not having an even amount on one side of the table as the other, from the center point. To fix this, just grab a stem from the longer end and add it to the shorter one. Easy peasy.
3. Add Tea Lights
To complete the look, add pretty glass tea lights. I love these fluted glass holders, which come as a set of four. The ribbing makes the light bounce around and casts such a pretty glow!
Instead of placing them in the center, I put them on alternating sides of the garland. Obviously, take fire safety precautions, or use battery-powered candles!
Don’t forget to Pin for later!
