Over the years, I’ve collected a lot of serving dishes for entertaining. Two things that my favorites have in common are that they are 1) neutral and 2) versatile. Today, I’m sharing my most used serveware. I love these for the holidays but reach for them year-round. Because they are neutral, they go with literally any holiday, occasion, and even every day. Plus, most are multi-functional so you can use them in a bunch of different ways depending on what you need. Click the button below to watch a video explaining each piece (including some ideas of how I’ve used it) – or continue scrolling to read my reviews and get links to shop.

Serving Dishes for Entertaining
- I did not review this in the video but this 3-part server with square bowls and a stand are so great for small snacks, sauces, and desserts. You can use the bowls separately from the stand too. I like that the arch on the stand is kind of like a handle, which makes it really easy to move the piece around your buffet as needed.
- If you treat yourself to nothing else from this post, grab this 4-piece server. It comes with the larger circle bowl plus three oval bowls. Each oval bowl is a different height, which makes it such a pretty dish visually. You can use the bowls together as shown or separately. This piece is especially great for toppings and snacks.
- The highlight of this chip and dip serveware is that the small bowl can be placed anywhere you’d like in big bowl (in the center or off center), which gives you a lot of options to be creative and get a new look each time you use it.
- Having a large platter on hand is so useful not only for the turkey on Thanskgiving but throughout the year. I use this tray a lot in the summer when we’re hosting cookouts to display toppings. It also makes a great cookie platter if you’re hosting a crowd.
- Salad plates also make great appetizer plates. We have several dozen of these and they’re what we use instead of paper plates when we have a party.
- These dinner plates are our go-to dishes. We use them every day, and they’ve held up so well over the years with minimal chipping. Because they have a simple design, you can use them to set a table any time of year no matter what your decorations are.
- If you don’t have a cake stand, I highly recommend this one. The simplicity of the design is just so pretty. Use it for cake but also to serve other desserts and appetizers.
- Lastly, medium trays are great serving dishes for entertaining because there are countless uses for them. They’re especially perfect for displaying bite-sized snacks and treats. I especially like this set of platters along with the tiered stand to give some height to a buffet.
