We all know the ubiquitous popularity of the pumpkin spice latte. If you love the idea of a PSL but you just aren’t a fan of coffee or prefer tea – you will love this pumpkin spice tea recipe!
Made with strongly brewed pumpkin spice tea, this milk-forward beverage was inspired by another favorite – London fog tea latte.

As a busy mom, I’m a huge fan of cutting corners in the kitchen. This recipe is no exception! If you’re busy too, you’ll appreciate how fast this warm and cozy fall drink comes together!
PLUS – you don’t have to find a ton of exotic, expensive ingredients – or have a fancy milk steamer. Instead, you can add these items to your next Target drive up pick up order! For less than the cost of a few PSLs, you’ll be sipping this yummy tea latte all season long.
1. Steep Pumpkin Spice Tea
First, steep your pumpkin spice tea in hot water for five minutes. Use two tea bags to make the flavor more intense.
I really like Harney & Sons Pumpkin Spice tea. Not only does it taste amazing, but the packaging is so adorable! Honestly, it’s pretty enough to use as decoration if you ask me.
The pumpkin mug pictured was from Target 2021. Here is their 2022 pumpkin mug. It’s very similar – looks like it’s just a bit taller.
Warm Whole Milk
Meanwhile, warm 1/4 cup of whole milk. If you prefer to use the stovetop, go for it. If you’re looking for a time-saver, I had no issues cutting a corner and microwaving the milk for about 30 seconds in a microwave safe creamer pitcher.
Foam Milk
Ready for the fun part!? My kids always enjoy getting in on this step because they like seeing the plain milk transform into bubbly, foamy goodness.
To get this effect, you don’t need a fancy coffee maker. Instead, a hand-held milk frother works great (the one I used is under $10!).
This step takes just a couple of minutes and can be done while your tea is steeping.
Pour in Vanilla Syrup
Before you combine the milk and tea, add 2 tbsp of vanilla syrup to the tea and mix gently. This is also a great time to remove the tea bags, using the same spoon.
Add Milk and Top with Foam
Next, pour the milk into the tea while holding the foam back with a spoon. Once the liquid milk is completely poured in, use the spoon to scoop the foam and gently place it on the tea.
Sprinkle Cinnamon and Nutmeg
You’re almost ready to enjoy your pumpkin spice tea latte. There’s just one last step to really enhance the autumnal taste; sprinkle 1/8 tsp each of cinnamon and nutmeg on top. Not only does it create an incredible aromatic experience, but I think it kind of looks pretty too!
And that’s it! You’re ready to sip and enjoy!
