It’s no secret that bohemian party themes are trending across all different types of events – birthdays, graduations, baby showers, bridal showers, and even weddings.
Personally, I love this theme because it transcends age and occasion. It works as well for a first birthday as it does for a 100th birthday. Not only that, but boho decor is appropriate for nearly every event you could host.
Why is that great for us? It means you can invest in a few key boho party decorations and repurpose them for several events. The same cannot be said for every party theme!
Let’s dive into this event I created for my daughter’s 8th grade graduation.
This post is all about styling boho party decorations.
Boho Table Linens
The jumping off point for this boho themed party were these gorgeous blue shibori table linens. Rather than investing in a tablecloth, I opted for a table runner.
Layering it on top of a flax linen tablecloth that I already had added dimension and cut a bit of a corner out of our budget. You could use any neutral tablecloth you have to achieve this look.
Paper and Cloth Napkins
I am OBSESSSED with these shibori cloth napkins! They were the perfect complement to the more dominantly blue table runner.
Also couldn’t believe my luck when I found coordinating cocktail paper napkins, which were perfect for the dessert table. They also come in a luncheon size. So if you want to forego cloth napkins, you have options!

Wood Bead Napkin Rings
What could be cuter at a boho themed party then wood bead napkin rings?
This particular set is reasonably priced, and I love the rustic tassels for a punch of a natural element.
Seagrass Baskets
Speaking of natural elements, let’s talk baskets. Every boho party needs a touch of woven material. I used these seagrass baskets to hold napkin-rolled utensils and as a piece of serveware.
Create a cohesive look by repeating some decor elements throughout your party. These nesting baskets come as a set of three, making them perfect to incorporate in creative ways throughout your event.
Seagrass Glassware
Seagrass deserves one more shoutout, this time in the form of glassware. You really cannot go wrong with glasses like these. You can use them far beyond special occasions as they can work into your every day tables at home.
I love this particular set because the seagrass is the perfect tone and isn’t tinged green like some other options on the market. Worth the investment in my opinion!
Wood Boho Cake Topper
Boho party decorations extend all the way to the top – of the cake that is. Wood cake toppers are a great choice for a bohemian themed event because they are a natural material – a super important aspect of boho design.
Look for one that is in a geometric shape, such as a circle or hexagon. Bonus points for a the sentiment being written in a modern script font. The Etsy shop where I found this boho cake topper has a ton of great customizable options.
Paper and Twine Food Accents
Earthy paper sandwich wraps secured with twine makes a simple yet elegant menu choice for a boho event. For this party, we offered three different sandwiches, making sure to consider dietary needs.
You can pre-make the sandwiches and keep them refrigerated until ready to serve. (Minimizing last-minute cooking is one of the best stress reducers when hosting events!)
Served with strawberry and goat cheese salad, crunchy kettle chips, and an assortment of lemonade and iced tea, you can serve sandwiches in style.
Plant Party Favors
When I think of boho interior design, images of rooms dripping in plants comes to mind. That’s why plants are the absolute perfect favor for nearly every type of boho party. And the tag – well, the creative sayings are just about limitless. Here are a few of my favorites:
Graduation or birthday: Thanks for helping me grow.
Baby shower: Watch me grow. OR Baby in bloom.
Bridal shower: Love in bloom. OR Let love grow.
Baptism or confirmation: Faith plants a seed, love makes it grow.
Touch of Gold
Natural earthy elements need a contrast of shine. Achieve that in your boho party decor by adding a tiny touch of gold. In this case, we used gold utensils (salad servers, cake server, etc.) as well as a gold “Yay” balloon. Honestly, I could not believe how easy and quick this balloon was to inflate. No helium needed!
We used our mantle as the backdrop for this party, and hung the Yay balloon over a mirror that always hangs there. Dried floral arrangements flanked each side, and in the middle we featured photos of our daughter through the years.
Not hosting a graduation party like we were? No problem! Swap out the photos for images of the happy couple for a bridal shower, monthly or yearly pics of the guest-of-honor at a birthday party, or maternity photo session pictures of the momma at a baby shower.
Textured Vases
Boho party decorations should include textured vases filled with dried florals. (We’ll get to that next.) Choosing a neutral color will give you the option of incorporating the vases into your home decor after the party is over! If doing multiple arrangements, try to mix and match both design and height.
Boho Dried Floral Arrangements
Last but certainly not least – your boho fete must have dried floral arrangements! There are pre-made options available (Etsy is a great place to start your search) but you can also DIY arrangements. This is a more budget-friendly option because you can create multiple arrangements.
I purchased these dried florals from AFLORAL. They have a great assortment of preserved flowers in a wide range of colors and textures. Everything came beautifully packaged and quickly.
