When you’re in a pinch and need a last-minute, easy appetizer for Christmas Eve, this Christmas tree cheese board will save the day. Not only is it simple and fast to make, but it is also cute and festive to look at. The base of this rosemary Christmas tree appetizer is branches constructed of long rectangular crackers. (Don’t worry – it’s easier to make than it looks!) Served on a simple round tray, this elegant finger food appetizer will be the hit at your Christmas parties and gatherings.

This post is all about how to create an appetizer for Christmas Eve.
Ingredients
- Long rectangular crackers
- Fresh rosemary
- Two types of hard cheese
- Brie
- Fresh cranberries
- Three types of olives
- Hard salami
How to Make this Christmas Eve Appetizer
To construct this Christmas tree appetizer, you need to begin with long, rectangular crackers.
Begin at the top of the tree, overlapping several crackers at one end to create branches – and the general outline of your tree. Repeat for the middle and bottom branches. Leave some space between each set of branches for cheeses.
Next, add evergreen to your branches by placing sprigs of fresh rosemary on the outside of each.
Then, construct the “trunk” of your tree with sliced hard salami and fill in the space between the branches with cubed cheese.
Now it’s time to decorate! Sprinkle olives and cranberries on the rosemary.
Lastly, top your tree with a star constructed of brie cut into triangles.
Serveware for Your Christmas Eve Appetizer
Small plates and appetizer forks in festive shades of green and gold are all you need for your guests to enjoy this dish. Both can be purchased on Amazon. I’ve used these plates and forks for other appetizer posts. Even though the porcelain plates are green, they can be used year-round since they don’t scream Christmas.
Of course, no Hostessology set up would be complete without some adorable napkins! These exact ones I found at Home Goods, but I’ll link a few similarly understated holiday cocktail napkins for you.
To wrap up the look, display your napkins in pretty acrylic holder. The one linked below is the same holder I have. It is cocktail sized, which means it holds 5″x5″ napkins.
