Hosting the holidays? Here is an idea for vintage-inspired burgundy and gold Christmas table decorations centerpiece and place settings. Using a minimalist color palette with maximalist design elements, I love how everything worked together to create a cozy space to gather around. While I repurposed decorations from past tables and sprinkled in a few new finds, this look is overall very budget friendly – especially if you already have similar pieces you can use instead of buying new. I hope this post gives you a starting point to set a special table of your own for Christmas Eve or Christmas day!

Christmas Table Decorations
Place Settings
I wanted the vibe of this tablescape to be vintage Christmas – to go along with our Christmas living room decorations, especially since the dining room and living room are connected in our house.
The place settings started with this ornate charger plate. I like that it is a little nod to the viral vintage-inspired mirrors (like this one) that are so trendy right now. The gold has a nice soft finish, which tied in well with the matte gold flatware and gold rim on the wine glasses.
Next, for dinnerware, I used our everyday dishes (again!). These dishes are super easy to incorporate into lots of different looks because they are so understated. Plus, I have a bunch of serveware that they coordinate with, which makes it easier to have a cohesive look no matter what the decorations are around them.
Then, for a napkin, I used an oldie but goodie burgundy velvet cloth set (similar), which tied in with the velvet bows in the centerpiece. Since we served soup and salad, I placed a bowl off center on the dinner plates and then the napkin next to the bowl. Each got a pearl napkin ring as a finishing touch.
Centerpiece
This simple Christmas table centerpiece is easy to DIY. To start, I bought fresh greenery garland from Trader Joe’s. The length was 10 ft, which was WAY too long for my table. So to fix the length and also get a fuller look, I folded it in half, and then arranged it in a wavy pattern down the center of the table.
Next, I reused these matte black metal taper candle holders and burgundy taper candles from this tablescape. To make them feel fresh and festive for this table, I tied velvet ribbon bows to each. I love that this velvet ribbon is double faced, so no matter how you tie it velvet will be facing out.
The taper candle holders come in a set of 6. Since I decided to not use anything else in the middle of this simple centerpiece, I used just 5 of the holders, placing the tallest in the center. I also followed the curve lines from the garland and put them on either side in mirror height order on either side of the tallest one – to create a symmetrical look.
