It’s no secret bows are trending this year. I personally think bows are classic and really never go out of style. However, it was fun to fully embrace the trend for our Christmas front porch decor. Using a simple combination of artificial greenery, a fresh welcome mat, and lanterns with LED candles, I love the elegant look they created all together. Keep scrolling for more details on why I chose these pieces and links to shop the budget-friendly finds.

Christmas Front Porch Decorations
Planters & Wreath
For our front porch decorations, I wanted to use faux greenery for both the planters and wreath. Reusing urn planters from our front porch decor over the summer and fall, I filled them with artificial cedar trees. They come in a few sizes, but I chose the 4 ft height. My recommendation for these is to be very gentle when fluffing the branches – especially the top. However, they look quite realistic and were reasonably priced for a set of 2.
To complement the taller planters, I added a smaller tree on one side. This artificial spruce comes with a planter. So, it’s so fast and easy to add them to your front porch decorations. It comes in a few sizes – I used the 22″.
Lastly, I hung a Norfolk pine wreath on our door. You can get all the details on how I made this wreath in this post. I love how the bow on the wreath ties in (no pun intended!) with the bows on the lanterns to create a cohesive look, which I plan to also extend to window wreaths too. (Post coming soon!)
Lanterns
These lanterns are so good and a look for less. The lanterns I originally chose were too small for the space. So, I went on the hunt for another option and am very happy to have found these pretty open arch lanterns. I bought two different heights (17″ and 21″), added battery-powered outdoor LED candles, and placed them on opposite sides of the porch. The side with the smaller lantern is the side that got the third smaller planter – to create balance.
On the top of each lantern, I made a bow. To get this look, I tied one piece of ribbon around the top of the lantern. Then, with a second piece of ribbon, I created a separate bow (in the same way that I tied a bow with the wreath, which you can watch how to do in this Instagram Reel), and attached the bow with a twist tie to the other piece of ribbon.
Note: I used the 2″ wide burgundy velvet ribbon, but it’s currently sold out. However, it is still available in 1-1/2″ width.
Welcome Mat
Lastly, a fresh welcome mat can go a long way in updating your front porch decor no matter what season you’re in. This welcome mat is such a good buy. The size and classic design are perfection. I have repurchased it several times over the years and highly recommend it.
