When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, it can be fun to refresh a few things each year to update the look. I’m loving these 2024 Christmas decor trends because they feel like they blend into my home decor naturally.
It’s always my goal with holiday decor to have it look like a seamless evolution from season to season with an emphasis on home decor and not just holiday-specific decorations. I think that really helps with the cozy factor and also reduces what I need to buy.
Of course, we also have Christmas decorations that are family favorite traditions that are used every year whether they are trendy or not. Those sentimental pieces are part of the magic of the season – definitely don’t skip those if you have them too. The purpose of this post is to provide you with a resource for additions or replacements of things that are worn out. 🙂
In this post, I’ll share what I’m seeing as the top 7 Christmas decor trends and specific items that I’ll be incorporating into my home.

2024 Christmas Decor Trends
Trend 1: Rich Earth Tones
Over the past few years, there has been a shift to warm earth tones in home decor. Holiday decorations have followed this change and are now often featured in forest green, chocolate brown, burgundy, and champagne gold. This creates an overall moody vibe, which can be super cozy. I incorporate that into holiday decor throughout my home and try to stay true to the color palette as much as possible, which helps everything feel cohesive from one room to the next.
Trend 2: Bows
Bows are trending in home decor and fashion. Not surprisingly, Christmas is a natural extension of that coquette, regency-era aesthetic. One super fun way to incorporate this decor trend is by adding pre-tied bows to the ends of your tree branches (color shown is burgundy). Each bow in this set comes with a twist tie making it so easy to attach. I also am planning to use this 2″ burgundy ribbon to make my own bows for a front door wreath and possibly also a bow on our mantle garland.
Trend 3: Vintage-Inspired Ornaments
Vintage inspired ornaments are everywhere – like flocked, finial, and mercury glass. I cannot get over how good this set of mercury glass ornaments is. For a set of 6, it’s reasonably priced especially compared to other similar sets on the market. I’m also planning to use this mercury glass garland on our mantle as a new accent piece for 2024. When sourcing ornaments this year, I tried to find ones that had the antique looking caps that I think gives a vintage vibe.
Trend 4: Organic Drape-y Greenery
Okay, admittedly, not the best photo. But this garland just arrived today as I’m writing this. Out of the package, I’m really impressed. The branches are easily manipulated to get that drape-y movement that is so trendy this year.
Trend 5: Rustic Gold Bells
Rustic gold bells have been rising in popularity for several years. They used to be difficult to track down, but now there are a lot of options available at places like Walmart and Amazon. Since they come in a bunch of sizes and arrangements, there are many ways they can be incorporated into your Christmas home decor. I have bigger individual bells (similar) that I use as coffee table decor, and I also have a cluster of bells that I have used on my mantle. You can also put them on wreaths, use them as centerpieces, and hang them above a sideboard as an art installation.
Trend 6: Chunky Knits, Velvet, & Faux Fur
Sometimes Christmas decor doesn’t have to be specific to the holidays. Instead, it can be a textile you weave throughout your home – like chunky knits, velvet, and faux fur, which are all trending this year. To me, this is less of a trend, and more something that will stand the test of time that you can enjoy winter after winter, such as a fluffy blanket and pillow covers. You can also use them as specific Christmas decor, like stockings or table linens, like the faux fur one pictured below (similar).
Trend 7: Fluted Everything
Lastly, fluted or ribbed glass, ceramics, and metals is a home decor trend in general – but it definitely works well at the holiday season too. I am loving these modern these fluted ceramic trees (similar). You can also find fluted Christmas tree collars, ornaments, and taper candle holders to get the look. Or you can add this trend to your glassware – like my favorite coupe glasses or the water glasses pictured above (similar) – which adds such a fun festive touch to holiday drinks.
