With the hosting season nearly upon us, I wanted to refresh our small powder room to make it guest-ready. Making updates with a few new decorations made such a difference in how this space looks and feels. In this post, I’ll share the changes I made along with links to shop so you can give your half bath a glow up too!

This post is all about small powder room.
Small Powder Room Decor Refresh
1. Deep Clean
First, start by taking everything out of the powder room and giving it a deep clean. This doesn’t cost much but your time and the cleaning supplies you probably already have around. I think the simple act of removing all decorations from a space can provide so much clarity when redecorating because you’re able to look at the space as a blank slate. Plus, deep cleaning will automatically elevate the room.
2. Add a Plant
If you’ve been around my content for any length of time, you may have noticed I kinda love plants – usually the fake variety (real don’t last long here). The reason I love them so much is because they instantly bring life into a space visually – even faux does a good job of this – and makes it feel inviting. In this powder room, I chose a tall ceramic vase and stems. The stems can easily be swapped out seasonally to continually update the space with minimal effort.
3. Use a Tray to Hold Guest Napkins
Monogram guest napkins are an inexpensive upgrade to your small powder room. I like this set from Amazon and have reordered it several times. It comes in both gold and silver so you can choose what works best with your bathroom fixtures. To hold the napkins, I found this pretty faux marble tray for less than $10. The material feels and looks like stone, in my opinion – such a great value.
4. Scent the Space with a Reed Diffuser
Using a reed diffuser in a small powder room is a low-maintenance fragrance option. You can change it out seasonally, and there are budget-friendly options at many places. Target and TJ Maxx are a great starting point.
5. Add a Decorative Container
Decorative containers with a lid give a space both form and function. I like using them in a small bathroom because they provide a decor moment but also provide a little storage. The rattan one I chose comes in two sizes and looks very high end.
6. Fill a Reusable Dispenser with Scented Soap
A refillable soap dispenser goes a long way to upgrading your sink area. With a few exceptions, I prefer this over using branded bottles. As a bonus treat in the guest bath, I like to use scented soap. The hand soap I chose for this mini makeover is new to me but I love it. Can totally see why it has so many great reviews. Even my 13-year-old noticed and commented on how great it smells.
7. Refresh Your Hand Towel
Lastly, a new hand towel in your powder room will enhance the space and help it to feel refreshed. The one I used was a bit of a splurge – but I had my eye on it for a few months and decided this was the project to use it in. There are definitely less costly options available – but I’m happy with my purchase and would recommend it if you are going for a modern organic look in your home too.
