I made simple updates over the weekend to decorate my front porch for the new season. Fall front porch decor is a great way to welcome guests to your home during the upcoming holidays. In the end, I took a pared-back approach that is more focused on a color palette with a nod to fall. However, at one point I had pumpkins on the porch. After taking a step back to evaluate, they just did not fit the vibe. That was a good reminder to me that even if something was part of an original vision (and you spent money on it), don’t be afraid to edit to get to the best version. Now those cute pumpkins are on our deck and backdoor stoop – so they did not go to waste!

Fall Front Porch Styling
Fall Front Door Wreath
This stunning red boxwood wreath was the jumping-off point for this fall porch look. The colors are so rich and beautiful. According to the item description, the wreath is intended for indoor decor. My porch is covered, so I’m going to take a risk and have it outside – so use your own best judgment if you decide to use this wreath too. 🙂 This is the wreath hook I used, and it comes in several other finishes to work with many different door styles.
Fall Planters
Rather than mums, I chose tall ornamental grass and burgundy plants for this fall front porch look. These planters I’ve had for a while (and blogged about them in this post). The movement of the ornamental grass even with the slightest breeze creates a lot of visual interest. In the tall planters I used Savannah Switch Grass, and in the shorter planters I used Fireworks Fountain Grass – both found at Lowe’s. Then, also in the shorter planters, I added in a mix of low burgundy and green plants – some new and some leftover from summer.
Fall Outdoor Rugs
These layered rugs I’ve had since spring and still enjoy them. They’re under $20 for the set, and I love that you can get a personalized look with your monogrammed initial on the coir mat. The rug underneath I’ve washed several times without any issues. Definitely a great value that can work year-round including with your fall porch decor.
