Are you hosting a meal for a special person receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation? This post will give you confirmation table decorations ideas, confirmation cake ideas, and more!
My eldest daughter recently took a big step in her Catholic faith journey and received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Although we are still in a pandemic, we wanted to mark this momentous occasion with a beautifully set table and extra-special meal – even if it is just for our immediate family of five!
Since my daughter is a teenager, she wanted the table to feel sophisticated and yet a little youthful. I also wanted to make sure we incorporated elements of our faith and her faith journey on both the tablescape and on the dessert table.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how I set up this look and give you links to the sources where I found the confirmation table decorations – so you can recreate this look for a special person in your life!

This post is all about confirmation table decorations.
Confirmation Table Decorations Palette
The jumping off point for the color palette of these confirmation table decorations was the idea of eucalyptus on a gold hoop. This popular style feels fresh and modern – perfect for my “client” (aka daughter) who was going for a sophisticated and yet playful look.
Once I decided on the eucalyptus and gold hoops, I pulled in creamy white table linens to complement the silvery green and gold. Then to add a natural accent, I chose soft cream velvet ribbon tied around the terra cotta napkins and faux brown leather plate chargers.
Dreamy Eucalyptus Centerpiece
With the color palette and design direction nailed down for our confirmation table decorations, I started hunting and gathering.
First on my list was to find a centerpiece. I searched high and low for the perfect gold hoop and eucalyptus centerpiece – and guys, I found it!
There are a lot of gold hoop centerpieces on the market. However, while beautiful, many are very wedding. You know what I mean? I needed a gold hoop centerpiece that felt like it could fit in my home, and this set of three was perfect. I also like that using three gold hoops for our confirmation table decorations can symbolize the trinity – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Using a set of faux eucalyptus sprigs and floral wire, I attached the greenery to the hoops. I’m not a huge crafter, but this little DIY project was easy and done in under 30 minutes. I recommend clipping off most of the stem. This will make them easier to hide them so you get that continuous branch look.
Table Linens and Place Settings
Next, I made final decisions on table linens and place settings. Using some things I already owned plus picking up a few new treasures, I am really happy with how everything came together.
A pretty creamy white Kate Spade tablecloth with playful tone-on-tone polkadots is the base for the tablescape. Going back to my daughter’s request to have a sophisticated and yet youthful look, I think this adds a touch of both!
The napkins are an Amazon find, in a pretty terra-cotta. I folded them using this tutorial so they would have a pocket to insert a eucalyptus sprig, and loosely wound creamy beige velvet ribbon around each. Rather than paper, I used wood tags for place cards that were tied with the ribbon. Names were written in gold permanent marker.
A new add to my collection, I picked up these faux brown leather chargers from Target. I’m really impressed with the quality and am happy they are back in stock after being sold out for so long! They look way more expensive than they actually were and bring a touch of boho to the table.
For the plates, I used my tried-and-true Aspen dinner plates from Crate & Barrel. If you are on the market for white plates, consider these. They are classic, durable, and can pretty much morph into any style you are going for.
Stacked on top of the dinner plate was a square side plate set at a diagonal. There are a lot of circles on this table, and it needed something angular.
The tablescape also needed more gold, so I picked my favorite matte gold cutlery. And the glassware is my old go-to, kid-friendly Ikea wine and tumbler glasses. For an extra special touch, I used left over velvet ribbon to tie simple knots around the wine glass stems and added a small eucalyptus leaf.
Confirmation Cake Table
Now, onto the dessert course! (Arguably, always the best course.)
The star of the dessert buffet was my daughter’s confirmation cake. I worked with a local bakery to create a custom look that fit the theme. The cake is a 6″ triple layer with smooth buttercream icing and gold glitter accents.
Topping the cake is a gold “God Bless” pick and around the cake is fresh, live eucalyptus. I placed the cake on my favorite white pedestal cake stand from Crate & Barrel. Sprinkled all around the table are gold table confetti from Ginger Ray.
As a connection to the past, I used my grandma’s cut out cookie recipe to make crosses, and topped them in simple white icing. Next to the cookies, I set up pretty marble and gold dessert napkins.
In addition to the desserts, I wanted the confirmation table decorations in this space to really speak to the import of this moment in my daughter’s faith journey. I displayed black and white photos of her baptism and first communion – as a reminder of how far she has already come in her journey.
Then my husband and I each picked something from our sides of the family to represent our faith. I chose a beautiful wood statue of Our Lady that belonged to my grandmother, and my husband chose a rosary that is special to him.
Tip: Incorporate “something old” into your celebrations – family dishes, recipes, photos, or memoriabilia. For me, this gives a feeling of connectivity to the past while celebrating the present.
Also on the table is a beautiful modern interpretation of the Eucharist. I adore this artwork and always have it on display in our breakfast nook.
Above the dessert table are line drawings of Jesus and Mary. This table is in a main artery of our home; we pass it a million times daily. I like having this art in this high traffic area as a constant reminder of our Catholic faith.
